Prosecutor: Accident Leaves Pedestrian with Life-Threatening Injuries

A pedestrian who was struck earlier in the week by a motor vehicle is being treated for life-threatening injuries, Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Thursday. The Howell incident is under investigation.

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 5:17 p.m., Howell police responded to the area of Route 9 and Lanes Mill Road for a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a female driver was traveling northbound in the left lane of Route 9. As she approached the intersection near Lanes Mill Road, she hit a 45-year-old female from Lakewood.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital, where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained on scene. No charges have been lodged or summonses issued stemming from the incident at this time.

An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Howell Township Police Department remains active.
