Prosecutor: 18-Year-Old Indicted on Murder, Weapons Charges in 2025 Pier Village Shooting

One teen has been indicted on murder and related weapons offenses stemming from the 2025 fatal shooting incident at Pier Village in Long Branch. Two other teens have been indicted on conspiracy and weapons offenses in connection with the incident, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Monday.

Dwayne Exilus, 19, Isaiah Z. Walker, 19, and Jahbron J. Goff, 18, whose identity had previously been withheld due to his age at the time of the incident, have all been indicted on the charges of: second-degree conspiracy to commit unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree hindering and fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon. Goff was also indicted on the first-degree murder charge and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, while Exilus and Walker were also charged with one count each of third-degree hindering the apprehension of another.

The case background …

On Thursday evening, June 12, at 8:58 p.m., Long Branch police responded to the Chelsea Avenue beach between the shoreline and the boardwalk of Pier Village on a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim, suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The victim, later identified as 18-year-old Chrystofer A. Whyte, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into Whyte’s death, led by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Long Branch Police Department, resulted in the identification of Goff as the person responsible for shooting Whyte. The investigation further resulted in Exilus, Walker and another juvenile being charged with the unlawful possession of firearms and efforts to conceal Goff’s involvement in the crime.
