Former longtime Fair Havenite Madge (Wolcott) Breeden passed away, surrounded by family, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick on Oct. 15. She was 82.

Former Fair Haven neighbors and friends flooded Facebook with condolences and memories of the Dartmouth Avenue mom and her family from back in the day.

“… So sad for us all I will always remember your mom when my sister and I played with you guys in your front yard with the rest of us kids on Dartmouth,” said Kevin Becker.

“My condolences to the entire Breeden Family,” said Lee Jones. “Keep her close in your heart ♥️ with all those magnificent memories my friend.”

“I remember her well,” said Peter Wade. “I grew up around the corner (from you) on Hunting Lane. I played basketball with your dad at the Knollwood gym in the late sixties-early seventies. My sincere condolences to the Breeden family.”

From Madge’s obituary …

Born in Staten Island, NY to the late Harry and Rivkah “Ray” Thau Walcott, Madge grew up in Red Bank, then made Fair Haven her home for a long stint before moving to Lakewood four years ago.

Madge worked for many years in the sales field as well as in the Fair Haven school district. She also served in the U.S. Air Force.

She is predeceased by: her parents; her husband, William Kenneth Breeden, Sr. (1999) and her sister, Leah Tergis.

She is survived by: her children and their spouses; Marie Breeden, of Lakewood, Kathleen and Thomas Guhl, of Florida, William Breeden Jr., of Long Branch, and Steven and Lois Breeden of Pt. Pleasant; her grandchildren, Desiree Rowe, Kristen, Justin, Sean and Matthew Breeden; and two great grandchildren, Jack and Penny.

Visitation is slated for Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ with a funeral home service on Saturday Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. followed by an interment at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
