Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer are upon us; and, Monmouth County authorities are being proactive about sober driving as the DWI Task Force, in cooperation with local police, plans two weekend DWI checkpoints starting tonight, the Monmouth County DWI Task Force announced.

On Friday, May 24, in Freehold Township …
On Route 9, starting at 10 p.m. and running until 2 a.m. on Saturday, all vehicles traveling north will be diverted into Juniper Plaza office complex where drivers will be checked for sobriety by DWI Task Force members and Freehold Township police.
On Saturday, May 25, in Neptune City …
On Route 35, starting at 10 p.m. and running until 2 a.m. on Sunday, all vehicles traveling north on Route 35 will be diverted into the Sunoco gas station at Steiner Avenue where drivers will be checked for sobriety by DWI Task Force members and Neptune City police.
