Longtime Fair Havenite and Fair Haven Fire Department Auxiliary member Jeanette M. Allers passed away peacefully at home on May 12, her husband Garry by her side. She was 79.
Jeanette and Garry made Fair Haven their home for more than 55 years; and, for 25 of those years, Jeanette served as a member of the fire department’s auxiliary. Known as a woman who loved her home and gardening, Jeanette was also a member of the Fair Haven Garden Club and took great pride in her own garden, her family said in her obituary. She also loved animals, especially her dogs Honey and Sweetie Pie.
Born in Passaic, NJ to Douglas and Charlotte Miller, Jeanette’s family moved to the Belford section of Middletown and she graduated from the Middletown High School Class of 1957. After high school, Jeanette worked for Eastern Associated Innkeepers, Lock Stock & Barrel in Fair Haven, What’s Your Beef in Rumson, and Charlie Browns and the Dam Site in Tinton Falls. She moved with Innkeepers, and her husband, to Las Vegas and managed the Jolly Trolley Restaurant, Sassy Sallies, Coin Castle and the Golden Goose, all in Las Vegas.
Jeanette is survived by: her husband and best friend, Garry; her sisters, Elsie (Jim) Broda, and Barb (Ron) Parker, all of Indiana; brother, Christopher (Laird) Bohn, of Colorado; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Arrangements are private. Memorial donations to the Fair Haven Fire Department Auxiliary would be greatly appreciated.
