In Memoriam: Rumson-Raised RFH 2005 Grad, Daniel Brown, 37

The family of Daniel Brown would like everyone to remember and take heed of these words of wisdom: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”

Rumson-raised Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) 2005 graduate Daniel Brown passed away on Sept. 18, 2024. He was 37.

Daniel was “dearly loved and will be dearly missed … He grew up in Rumson where he played soccer and enjoyed an active childhood … Daniel loved listening to music, with classic rock being his favorite genre. Daniel’s love of sports was a constant in his life and he loved keeping up with the New Jersey Devils and the New York Yankees. He had a deep love for his family, his pet cats, and especially loved being an uncle to his nieces and nephews that he absolutely adored. He enjoyed going out to dinner with family and friends and traveling, with Wildwood and the Bahamas being among his favorite destinations.”

Daniel was born on Nov. 9, 1986 to Douglas Brown and Kathleen Buckman. He went on to attend Red Bank Catholic High School but would eventually graduate from RFH in 2005.

He is survived by: his beloved parents, Douglas and Kathleen; his brother, Josh (Carla); his sister, Jillian (Justin); his aunts and uncles, John (Susan) Buckman, Laurie (George) Melissinos, Barbara (Larry) Hafner, and Constance (Jim) Pryor; his dearest nieces and nephews, Jacob and Ryan Brown and Olivia and Ava Gjokaj; and many cousins.

Visitation for Daniel will be held on Monday, Sept. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave. Red Bank. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Rumson on Tuesday Sept. 24, at 11 a.m. Interment will be privately held at a later date.
