In Memoriam: Red Bank- and Little Silver-Raised Bert DiFiore, 83

Red Bank- and Little Silver-raised Umberto “Bert” DiFiore, more recently of Keansburg, passed away suddenly on the morning of Thursday, July 25. He was 83.

“Bert was fond of cardinals, and the saying ‘When cardinals appear, angels are near.’
He loved his large Italian family, and they loved him. Bert will always be remembered for his outgoing and friendly personality. He was a special man, a ‘people person.’ Bert grew up on Wallace St. in Red Bank, NJ along with his brother Michael. He attended Red Bank Elementary School, and then after the family moved to Harding Road, Little Silver, to a house his father and grandfather built. He graduated from Red Bank High School where he was well-liked and popular. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon returning from the service, he joined his brother Michael working together at Car/Care-DiFiore Auto Body Shop on Bergen Place in Red Bank doing auto body repair. Bert and Michael worked side-by-side for many years. Their shop was a gathering place for all of the car guys. Bert and his widowed father, Art DiFiore, bought several race horses and enjoyed time spent together at Monmouth Park Racetrack racing and making new friends. In recent years, he enjoyed going on Facebook (he had over 800 Facebook friends!), playing cards, and restoring old cars. Bert loved his yearly trips to Florida to visit family and friends. He also loved children and animals. But most of all, Bert was a Christian and he loved Jesus Christ.
