Loved ones of Patricia Ferragine in her obituary
“Patricia was a remarkable woman with many talents. She had many interests and hobbies and was brilliant in all that she did. She had a great love for animals and antiquing. She was a fantastic cook, seamstress, gardener, creative with needlepoint, and savvy with home interior decorating and wallpapering. One of her greatest skills was being able to strike up a conversation with anyone.
“Patricia enjoyed the Long Branch beaches and ocean, along with picnic lunches under the beach umbrella. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas and Christmas decorations. Christmas morning under the tree was most memorable with ample gifts and cookies for Santa that left our hearts warm.
“Patricia enjoyed gardening, planting, and cooking and her meals were legendary. She was an excellent cook who hosted many memorable parties and dinners. A full house was a happy house and she was always happy to host, making each visit special with a favorite meal or two. An incredible gardener and planter, Patricia could be seen spending summer days in her yard among the bushes, plants, birds, and flowers.
“Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed caring and spending time with them due to her kind and loving nature.”
The daughter of the late Salvatore and Tomicina Tortorici, Patricia was born in Newark on Feb. 15, 1943. She was raised in Hazlet, NJ where she attended and graduated from Keyport High School in 1958.
Before high school graduation, Patricia also attended and was a 1958 graduate of Wilfred Academy in Newark. There, she met her future husband and “love of her life”, the late Robert Ferragine (1939-2018), of Red Bank.
After graduating from Wilfred, Patricia went on to operate and manage Sina’s Hair Salon in Middletown with her mother, Tomicina.
Patricia and Robert married on Feb. 23, 1963. Their marriage was a long and happy one, spending every day together. Together they managed, operated, and owned Robert’s Coiffures hair salon in Red Bank for more than 50 years.
In addition, Patricia and Robert operated and managed two other hair salons at the nursing rehabilitation centers in Shrewsbury and Holmdel. Patricia also did hair for many patients out of the local hospital in Red Bank, all before retiring and moving to Bayville.
Patricia is survived by her children and their spouses, grandchildren, sibling, nieces, and nephews.
“She wished all that knew her to remember the happy times and not to be sad. For her only request was to be placed alongside her husband Robert. Thank you to Patricia and Robert — Mom and Dad — for the good and loving memories that will last forever. Know that you did not go on this journey alone, a piece of us has gone with you.
“Rest in Peace, Mom and Dad.”
Special thanks to Maria Ferragine Croft for being mom’s friend and always being there.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a service at the funeral home at 11:30, followed by burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Patricia’s name to the American Heart Association.
