In Memoriam: Longtime Red Bank Resident, Anthony Baczewski, ‘Tony Busch’, 87

Longtime Red Bank resident, Anthony Baczewski, known as Tony Busch, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, “surrounded by the love and devotion of his family.” He was 87.

Born in Newark to Stanley and Helene Baczewski, Tony had one brother, Stanley. At the age of 21, he entered the United States Armed Forces and served in the National Guard.

Tony “loved bicycling and walking, especially around his beloved Red Bank. He enjoyed horse racing and spending time at Monmouth Park Racetrack, as well as his annual trip to Saratoga Race Course. Tony took great delight in traveling to St. John’s and sailing the Caribbean with friends. He was a long-time communicant of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Red Bank.”

Tony was predeceased by his parents, his brother Stanley and his first wife, Virginia (nee: Sheehan) Busch.

Tony is survived by: his beloved wife of 24 years, Lynn Poole Baczewski; his loving children, Michelle Vlahos (Antonio), Sharon Coleman (Scott), and Anthony Busch, Jr. (Marianne); his cherished grandson, Anthony Busch III; his niece, Denise Mandia (Stan Rabitz); and a host of extended nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial mass will be held Thursday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, 121 Bridge Avenue in Red Bank, followed by a celebration of Tony’s life at The Molly Pitcher Inn, 88 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, from noon to 3 p.m..
