Longtime Little Silver resident, Joanne M. Chachko, passed away at home on Nov. 10 surrounded by her family. She was 89.
Born in Greenpoint Brooklyn, Joanne lived in Hazlet before moving to Little Silver 38 years ago.
She eloped with her husband Edward in 1953, an event accidentally captured on the front page New York Examiner.
When her sons grew up, she returned to school and received her GED and associate degree from Brookdale Community College. She rejoined the workforce at Prudential Property and Casualty (PRUPAC) as a secretary, rising to supervisor.
She was pre-deceased by: her husband Edward and son David, both in 2012; and her parents, Matthew and Helen Dabrowski.
She is survived by: her three sons and daughters-in-law Carl, Paul and Kim, Jonathan and Donna and Barbara; nine grandsons, Michael Boyle, Brett, Dennis, Michael, Cole, Austin, Blake, Jon Henry and Harrison Chachko; six great grandchildren; her sister, Marcia Spakowski; her brother, Thomas Dabrowski and his wife Florence.
“She was lovingly cared for in her final years by her wonderful aide Tessa,” family said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Dec. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Dorothea R.C. Church in Eatontown, followed by an interment at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
