Little Silver resident Joseph F. Hegner died on Sunday, July 18, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Besides being an avid Giants fan, he loved Jazz, Big Band music, traveling and the beach. Joe embraced life, and could often be found at a parade or concert. He had a knack for viewing the ordinary as extraordinary, and never passed up a chance to enjoy life. He instilled in his children

Born and raised in Arlington, NJ, Joe attended St. Benedicts Preparatory School and went on to graduate from Rutgers University. After serving in the U.S. Army, he began his career at United Airlines.
Loving both the airline industry and traveling, he remained with United for the next 45 years, which included executing all travel arrangements for the New York Giants.
Joe is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Maryleigh Hegner; his son, Andrew (Rachel); two daughters, Allison and Lauren (Alex); and his beloved grandchildren, Wyatt, Amelia, Reese and Abigail.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, ed Bank, on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:30. Funeral services and burial will be private.
