Former longtime Red Bank resident, Elsie “Micki” Marie White, more recently of the River Plaza section of Middletown, passed away peacefully on March 26 from complications related to a stroke, surrounded by her loving family. She was 94.


“In her early years, she enjoyed roller skating, cheering for the Brooklyn Dodgers, and exploring the city with her girlfriends to see Frank Sinatra. After moving to New Jersey, she met the love of her life, Walter (Whitey), and were married at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson, in 1952. Elsie Marie and Walter celebrated 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2016.

“After living in Red Bank for a time, they settled in River Plaza, where they raised their four children. The family cherished summers spent at Trade Winds Beach Club, Sea Bright, and enjoyed many years of camping and cross-country trips.
“She actively participated as a dancer for over 30 years, embracing her love of dancing. Elsie Marie’s vibrant spirit and immeasurable love touched the lives of all who knew her.
“A pillar of her community, she was a devoted communicant of the oratory church of St. Anthony of Padua, Red Bank, where her voice graced the church choir. Elsie Marie’s faith shone through her service as a eucharistic minister, and her wisdom and love for children inspired young minds as a religious educator for the communion class. Elsie Marie was a proud member of the Garden Club R.F.D., where she was awarded a certificate in recognition of her 29 years of dedicated service. She was cherished for the beautiful poems she shared at monthly meetings, each one reflecting her deep appreciation for nature, her faith, and the beauty of life.
“Elsie Marie’s zest for life was evident in her diverse interests and talents. She found joy in gardening, creating beautiful works through knitting, sewing, painting, and loved both cross-country and downhill skiing. Her adventurous spirit and vitality were a source of pride and inspiration as she continued to conquer the slopes well into her 70s. Her nurturing ways shone through not only in her gardening but also in her unwavering faith, which inspired everyone around her to embrace love and kindness.
“Above all, Elsie Marie was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose family was the center of her world. Elsie Marie had a beautiful heart, welcoming nature, and unwavering love for her family and friends, filling their lives with love, laughter, and cherished memories. We are eternally grateful for the countless moments she gifted us and the love she so freely shared; her legacy will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to have shared in her remarkable life.
Elsie Marie was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Harry and Evelyn (Rice) Pasquini.
She was educated at Bay Ridge High School for Girls in Brooklyn, NY, before relocating to New Jersey after high school.
Elsie Marie is survived by: her children, Ronald, of Toms River, Patricia White, of Middletown, and Pamela (Tom) Ferry, of the Lincroft section of Middletown; her sister, Jacqueline Pasquini, of Sun City, AZ; her grandchildren, Mark (Rose), Cory (Lauren), Brittany (Brandon), Tommy, Macayla and Christopher; and her great-grandchildren, Kali, Oliver, Lillian Elsie; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 3, from 3 to 7 p.m. at John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m. at The Oratory Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Red Bank. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Elsie Marie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, her favorite charity.
