In Memoriam: Former Longtime Little Silver Resident, Carol Wade

Former longtime Little Silver resident Carol Wade passed away peacefully on Dec.10 at Brandywine Assisted Living in Shrewsbury, where she has lived for nearly five years.

She and her husband Art, purchased a new home in Crest Village in Little Silver 1951 as one of the original homeowners of the neighborhood.

Carol was born in Orange to Edwin and Elisabeth Reed. She graduated from Montclair High School in 1947 and attended six weeks of college before coming home and marrying her husband Arthur S. Wade, her neighborhood sweetheart.

“Carol was an incredible seamstress, knitter, and needlecraft worker. She worked at Baskin’s Fabric Fair as manager for many years in the ’70s. Her hobbies included needlecraft, from needlepoint, quick stitch, and counted cross stitch. She called it her ‘color by number’ and worked on her projects endlessly and with great joy and pride. Her family and friends cherish her works of art. The family spent every summer at Sandlass Beach Club, Sea Bright, where she also went to the beach as a child. Annually, the family would travel to Indian Lake, NY, in the Adirondack Mountains to enjoy a week or two in that relaxing region with two other families. Those memories at the lake, bring family and friends great joy.”
