Former longtime Little Silver resident, Agnes Ann Matysek Vanecek, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 15. She was 104.

“Agnes attended St. Wenceslaus High School and Nortre Dame Institute Baltimore, Maryland. She worked as a secretary and office manager of Lions Club International. Agnes volunteered for the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, which was formed in 1903. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Vanecek, loving mother of the late Carol Ann Vanecek and Richard Vanecek
Agnes is also predeceased by: siblings, John, Lawrence, Charles and Eugene Matysek, and Dorothea Burns; and nephews, Eugene Matysek Jr. and Robert Matysek.
She is survived by: grandson, Robert Vanecek; sibling, George Matysek; and nieces and nephews, Rita Dirhan, John Matysek Jr., Paul Matysek, Janine Young, Stephen Matysek, Patrice Brodahl, William Burns, Michael Burns, Diane Cawley, Thomas Matysek, Joseph Matysek, James Matysek, George Matysek Jr. and Gregory Matysek.
Friends will be received for a visitation on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church, North Middletown. Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
