A DWI checkpoint will start the weekend off in Monmouth County, running from Friday night until early Saturday morning.
“The Monmouth County DWI Task Force will continue to be proactive in deterring and educating drivers of the dangers of driving while impaired, in an attempt to reduce DWI-related injuries and deaths in our county,” Allenhurst Police Chief and County DWI Task Force Coordinator Michael Schneider said in a released statement.

Monmouth County DWI Task Force members and Asbury police will coordinate efforts to direct vehicles driving south on Main Street into the Asbury Park Municipal Plaza parking lot starting at 10 p.m. There, until 2 a.m. on Saturday, drivers will be screened for sobriety.
All southbound vehicles on Main Street will be diverted into the Municipal Plaza parking lot, where local officers and Task Force members will determine the sobriety of drivers.
