Photos/George Day
Everyone needs a little cheer these pandemic days, right? Area restaurateurs have been cooking up some special comfort food and charity to soothe souls and fill bellies amid the COVID-19 crisis. We heard recently how Chris Wood, known as Woody, owner of Woody’s Ocean Grill in Sea Bright, offered his restaurant’s menu on pay-what-you-can basis.
Woody, along with his chef at the time, Onofrio Moscato, started Sea Bright Rising in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy flipping burgers for hungry displaced area residents in the Sea Bright Municipal Parking Lot. What you may not realize is that Woody is an RFH Class of ’78 grad.
And, as much as he likes to lead a good cheer for the frightened and unfortunate these days, he led many a cheer at RFH back in the day.
RFH grads like to stick together. And many of the guys cheering in these 1970s photos on the RFH football field are still friends.
Many, in fact, have visited Woody at his restaurant since he bought it.
So, let’s lead a cheer for RFH togetherness in a distancing time. And, as we look back at the camaraderie of RFHers, remember that many are still there for one another.
Cheers, RFHers! Thanks to Woody for stepping up again.
Now, do you know which is Woody? Recognize all these guys? Some are still around.
