The year 2020 has brought a Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) graduation of a different kind — the COVID-19 pandemic kind.
They have their caps and gowns. Senior awards have been picked up. And as they ready for their virtual ceremony and diploma conferral on June 19, the RFH Class of 2020 will be celebrated in the streets of Rumson and Fair Haven with a community shout-out on Thursday night.
The sign of pandemic time graduation says it all …

But before and when the parade passes by, it’s just the beginning …
A live ceremony is planned for July 8, pending NJ Department of Education approval. Details are to follow. But one thing that’s known is that the graduates will already have their diplomas in hand then.
“Diplomas will be mailed to graduates’ homes following the June 19 diploma conferral,” a post on the RFH website said, outlining the 2020 graduation process. “RFH will include a few copies of the graduation ceremony program with the diploma mailing. RFH is not permitted to distribute programs at the live graduation ceremony on July 8.”
A bit of uncertainty about the live ceremony still looming, let’s hear it for the Class of 2020 — loud and clear on Thursday night. Congratulations RFH graduates!
