A Long Branch man convicted last year of locking an 8-month-old pit bull puppy in a small wire cage and leaving that cage in the rising tide of the Sandy Hook Bay was sentenced on Friday to a year in prison, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

A warrant has been issued for Aaron D. Davis, 36, of Long Branch in connection with the case of “River,” the dog who was left in a cage in Highlands.
Anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of Aaron Davis or that may have witnessed anything, please notify the Monmouth County SPCA Animal Cruelty Hot Line 877-898-7297 or alternatively, the Highlands Police Department at 732-872-1158.

Prosecutor Gramiccioni, along with Monmouth County SPCA Chief Ross Licitra and good Samaritan Jen Vaz, provide an update on River, the dog who was found in Highlands yesterday. River was given that name by Jennifer, who rescued him.
River is doing well and we are still asking for the public’s assistance as to who River’s owner may be.
