They were unmasked, on key and merrily singing their way into the holiday season.
Donning school signature purple and season-appropriate Santa hats, the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Tower Singers caroled their way from Rumson to Red Bank, with four stopping points along the way and high-pitch Christmas spirit to spread.
Starting at 10 a.m. at Rumson’s Bingham Hall, the singers made their way to St. George’s-by-the-River Episcopal Church. In the afternoon, they strolled a little and sang a lot at Garmany in Red Bank and then made a final stop at the Red Bank Artisan Collective at 1:30 p.m..
The Tower Singers will hit the stage at RFH The un-masked Tower Singers caroled from Rumson to Red Bank on Saturday with stops at Bingham Hall starting at 10 a.m., then St. George’s then onto Garmany in Red Bank at 1 p.m. and finally at Red Bank Artisan Collective at 1:30.
The Tower Singers will hit the RFH stage along with the Concert, Marching, Jazz and Strings bands and Color Guard for the RFH Winter Concert at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14 in the RFH Auditorium where the concert’s always been.
In RFH yesteryears of winter concerts, there were three choruses, The Freshmen Chorus, Tower Singers and audition-only Tower Madrigals. There was also a time when the finale, with all three choruses and the orchestra, was the classic Hallelujah Chorus for which the musical director would invite alumni in the audience to join the singers. It was quite a moving moment when the old and new sang together.
The Tower Singers is and has been for some time the only chorus now at RFH. Even the singers alone have shrunk in that one chorus in number significantly. But the singers are filled with spirit and love of a good song. So are the instrumental groups. So, mark your calendars for the Winter Concert to support RFH arts.
