The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) Tower Players set to put the merry into Merry Men with their own brand of comedy in the fall production of Mary Lynn Dobson’s The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. The show will run from Nov. 17 to 19.
The story follows Robin Hood (Connor Olson) and his band of Merry Men on their journey to provide prosperity to the needy folks of Sherwood Forest. The wise Town’s Gal (Hailey Blum), who’s not afraid to break the fourth wall, guides Robin Hood (and his enormous ego) in fighting against injustice with the help of theater magic.
Along the way, Robin Hood meets and falls in love with Lady Marian (Lainie Lombardo). Their love, however, is forbidden as Robin Hood is an outlaw in the eyes of the evil Prince John (Christian Stone) and his right-hand man, The Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Child).
Through plans, plots, and intrigue, this sinister duo attempts to thwart Robin Hood’s strategies to win his love back and help the poor. From the Dungeon of Demise to an archery tournament gone awry, it seems that the odds are stacked against the gallant hero, but whether or not Robin Hood allows himself to go down without a fight is what the show is all about.
The Tower Players are working with the creative production team of: KasiAnn Sweeney, director, Anthony Pruester, assistant director, Donna Bataglia, choreographer, Matthew Leddin, technical director, Catherine Cleary, costume and props designer, and Sue Wankel, play production coordinator.
The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood is presented through special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing. For tickets, please visit https://towerplayers.booktix.com.
