RFHers have fallen into football season with the usual panache. Everything about playing the game has always been done in true pro style — from the players to the cheerleaders.

Though, while cheerleaders are still cheering at RFH, they do so with different outfits and cheer style. And seeing cheerleaders all dressed up like some 1977 guys on the sidelines is something that never happens (or at least like this) anymore.

So, take in the scenery and cheer style of these champions of the 1977 RFH Powder Puff Football game at Borden Stadium. Oh, you’ve seen these guys before, but more photos of them just keep turning up. You could call this a crew of RFH Hammy de Cheer Boys.

This all-dressed-up-with-plenty-of-places-to-go-on-the-field male cheerleading squad hip, hip and hurrahed those junior and senior girls to athletic success for this game. It’s a wonder the girls could concentrate on the game with all that adroit beefcake wile calling like Sirens on the sidelines.

The girls played with what looked like a coordinated feminine fashion finesse — pig tails, pony tails, turtle necks, gloves and bandanas.

Those boys cheering them on, however, had their own feminine mystique in wardrobe going on, as many recall. But, feast your eyes on these angles. They’re doozies.

Some of these guys of the RFH Class of ’78 still live in the area. Recognize anyone? One is a former Fair Haven policeman and another is a Rumson dad. Know who and which they are? Who else? Hmmmm. One owns a popular Sea Bright restaurant.

Hip, hip … holy cartwheel!
