Holy Hunt! There’s a cache of classic rite of passage Hunt memories packed in one RFH group shot right here in this Retro Pic of the Day.
This one, along with a few others to follow, gives a glimpse into one of those October days, probably in the late 1970s or early 80s, on the side of a hill at the Middletown Haskell Estate that truly lives in the infamy of RFHers’ souls. Or something like that.
It’s a classic capture of a moment in Hunt time. This gaggle of RFHers is mostly from the Class of 1980 from the looks of things — more like faces.
There are many familiar ones in there. Some are still around the towns. There may be a few from the RFH Class of ’79 and ’81 mixed in somewhere there.
Know where they are sitting? Our guess is what was termed Hippie Hill, a spot high up on the side of the hill of the estate where kids snuck in and hung out just to be a part of the tradition.
The look was casual, but the turtle necks, Oxford button-down shirts and Fair Isle sweaters were a mainstay. How many do you spy?
Who are these Hunt aficionados of the era? Tally ho!
