A reprise of a very popular Retro Pic of the (George) Day that pays homage to spring — RFH style … Now where were these RFHers? Word has it that they were far off campus …
Spring has truly sprung. In fact it’s bloomin’ bouncing into seasonal warmth lately, save for a few bad days.
Yes, it’s that time of the year when birds are chirping, bees are buzzing, buds are busting into full bloom, and full-on spring fever is piping hot, especially for the RFHers yearning to bust out of the classroom to commune with one another and nature — or something like that. You’ve heard this spring fever story before. But here’s a new snapshot of the mood.
Here we have it — another picture of spring RFH style, from another angle, in the 1970s. This Retro Pic of the (George) Day today offers a glimpse back to those spring days of those “free” periods we love to reminisce about and will back into existence — of course with the youth as well. Remember? We RFHers called them frees.
Just in case you hadn’t heard this story before, during “frees,” students with a C average and above were allowed outside to roam, socialize or study during what would otherwise have been a study hall period.
We know the Campus Luncheonette was a popular spot. And then there was Piping Rock Park. Butler’s? Hmmm. Where did you hang out on your frees?
Recognize these spring fever loungers? They may have wandered off the RFH campus. To where?
Many thanks, once again, to George Day for this photo!
