There’s nothing quite like stirring the pot in the company of good friends.
There’s a lot of that going on in foul winter weather times as folks hunker down to stay toasty and cheery. And the makings of winter warmth usually begin and end with good friends gathering to cook up some good times. Recently, the long-traditional Fair Haven Fire Department’s Spaghetti Dinner soothed the souls and gullets of people in the area with the serving up of some quality food to go with the good times.
So, here they are … the ladies of what appears to be a firehouse spaghetti dinner of the ’60s or thereabouts. Must be. We can tell the snapshot was taken in likely the 60s era as evidenced by the “gourmet” ladies in this pot-stirring freeze frame, starting with Millie Felsmann at far left. Know the others? They have some deep Fair Haven roots, too.
Smiles? Check. Aprons? Check. And just look at those pots poised for some feverish stirring and serving of all that soothes. All the makings of a magical night filled with community warmth are right there. Not a bit of a chill from the winter air to sting this kind of hometown hearth. The warmth always emanates from the kitchen and those stirring the pot with love. What’s to ladle from your winter pot? Who was cooking here? Was it the guys, as it is now, or the ladies? Favorite community goodness to cook up?
