Red Bank & Sea Bright Firefighter Murdered

An announcement from the Fair Haven Fire Department mourning the death of young fellow firefighter Andrew Hill — a 2nd lieutenant of Red Bank’s Westside Hose Co. No. 1 and member of Sea Bright Fire Department — came on Sunday, hours after Hill was murdered.

“FHFD mourns the loss of Red Bank and Sea Bright Fire Dept member, Andrew Hill, who was taken from us too soon. Rest easy brother!” a Facebook message said.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office released the following information about the early Sunday morning homicide:

A Red Bank man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old male in the same borough, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

Early Sunday morning, Demar S. Reevey, 23, of Red Bank, was charged in connection with the death of Andrew Hill, 26, also of Red Bank. Reeves has been charged with first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon (knife) for an unlawful purpose.

At 12:43 on Sunday morning, police received a 911 call reporting a stabbing victim in the area of Tilton Avenue and Bank Street in Red Bank. Police found the victim, Hill, at the scene. Hill was transported to Riverview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Reevey was apprehended a short time later.

The incident remains under investigation.
