A woman was found dead in Atlantic Highlands this morning; and, an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is underway, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced Friday.
In the meantime, authorities say, there is no active threat to residents or visitors to the area.

Shortly before 7:45 a.m., members Atlantic Highlands police responding to the area of Asbury Avenue between Navesink and Grand Avenues found the body of an adult female inside a vehicle. The woman has yet to be identified, with a cause and manner of death pending the performance of an autopsy.
Members of the Prosecutor’s Office’s Major Crimes Bureau and the Atlantic Highlands Police Department are jointly investigating this matter.
