A former office administrator of a pain management center in Wall Township has been arrested and charged with stealing more than $150,000 from the business, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Tuesday.

On Jan. 21, detectives from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, with the assistance of the Wall Township Police Department, arrested William Donald, 61, of Oceanport, on a complaint charging him with theft by unlawful taking, a second-degree crime, and falsifying or tampering with records, a fourth-degree crime.

An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wall Township Police Department allegedly revealed that from June, 2016 until February 2019, the defendant misappropriated $155,577.12 from a pain management center located in Wall Township, while employed as an office administrator. 

In his role as an administrator, the Donald allegedly opened a point of sale machine, in his name, claiming he was the sole owner of the practice. A point of sale machine is an electronic device used to process card payments at retail locations. 

The funds for the point of sale machine came from the business’ bank accounts. Donald then allegedly used the stolen funds to pay personal bills, which included his personal vehicle payments, his son’s rent, and bills incurred on a property he owned in Vermont.

If convicted on the second-degree crime, the defendant faces five to ten years in a New Jersey state prison. If convicted on the fourth-degree crime, the defendant faces up to 18 months.
