“We got him!!!” a post on the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Facebook page said less than 24 hours after missing 11-year-old Keansburg girl Abbiegail Smith was found dead allegedly at the hands of a neighbor.
A Keansburg teen, Andreas Erazo, 18, who lived in an apartment upstairs from Smith, was arrested Friday morning and charged with murder and related weapons possession in connection with the Smith incident.
Erazo was due to appear before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge English at 1:30 p.m. today.
“Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy of the young girl today to determine the cause and manner of her death,” the Prosecutor’s Office post said.
Smith had gone missing early Thursday morning and a massive search had been launched, enlisting help from all venues, including social media.
Shortly after the search had been launched, Smith’s body was found and police and the Prosecutor’s Office again enlisted the help of anyone with information.
It resulted in the arrest of Erazo.
