A Red Bank man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison in connection with the 2018 death by stabbing of a 26-year-old male in the same borough, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.

Demar S. Reevey, 24, of Red Bank, was sentenced on Friday, August 2, after pleading guilty on May 6 to aggravated manslaughter in connection with the May 2018 slaying of Andrew Hill. The charge is subject to the No Early Release Act (NERA), which means Reevey will be subject to serve 85 percent of the sentence before being eligible for parole eligible. Reevey will be also subject to parole supervision for five years upon his release from prison. 

The plea agreement was made after consultation with the victim’s family, who were in court during the proceedings. 

The case background …

At 12:43 a.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018, police received a 911 call reporting a stabbing victim in the area of Tilton Avenue and Bank Street in Red Bank. Police found the victim Hill at the scene. Hill was transported to Riverview Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. Reevey was apprehended a short time later.
