A 20-year-old area man is facing burglary, arson and related charges in connection with a Sunday house fire in Deal that left the home destroyed, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Monday.

Nasyr-Alaire D. Fisher, of Asbury Park, was charged with one count of second-degree burglary, one count of third-degree arson, along with multiple other offenses, including six counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

On Sunday, Dec. 29, at 6:31 a.m., several area fire departments responded to Lady Bess Drive in Deal on a report of a house fire. Upon arrival, police and fire personnel discovered the house to be fully engulfed. Fisher was found by Deal police in the area shortly after the fire was discovered.
An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and Deal Police Department determined Fisher was responsible for the fire.
Fisher was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI), where he is being held pending his initial appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court.
