In Memoriam: Red Bank Resident Al Lynch, 92

Red Bank resident Al Lynch passed away on Monday, June 3, with his children by his side. He was 92.

A private service is set for June 21.

“Al enjoyed golf and traveling, and spending time with his family. Many family vacations were spent in Hilton Head with his wife, sister-in-law, children, and grandchildren. Al was an avid Mets and New York Giants fan. He was a parishioner and usher at Christ Episcopal Church in Middletown.”

Born on April 28, 1932 in Baltimore, MD to Louise and Albert Lynch, Al graduated from Mercersburg Academy in 1950, then went on to Duke University. While at Duke, Al played lacrosse and pledged the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. Also during his undergraduate term, Al met Martha (“Marty”) Miller. They were married on Aug. 28, 1954 in Peoria, ILL.

Al served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves in the mid-1950s, stationed in Michigan. He transported and installed oil burners at various military sites in the Great Lakes region.

For more than 40 years, Al had a career in the HVAC industry. In 1977 Al and two business partners started and operated a company called Cassidy, Podell, and Lynch in Manhattan, NY. This firm later merged to become Gayle, King, Carr, and Lynch. Al retired in 2001.

Al is predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Marty (2022), a sister, Jane (2018), and newborn son Craig Steven (1956).

He is survived by: two sons, Albert (Diane) Lynch, of Lincroft,
and David Lynch, Mahwah; three grandchildren, Matthew (Annie) Lynch, David Lynch, and Katherine (Dan) Grodziak; and one great-granddaughter, Nora Lynch.

A private memorial service will take place on Friday, June 21, at 10 a.m. at Christ Church, 90 Kings Highway, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Al’s memory to the Associated Humane Societies, 2960 Shafto Road, Tinton Falls.
