Former longtime Rumsonite Joan Caroline Dangler Shea, most recently of Eatontown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was 90.
Born in Oakhurst, Joan lived in the Rumson-Fair Haven area most of her life before moving to Monmouth Beach and then most recently with her son in Eatontown.
Joan was the daughter of the late Roderic and Dorothy Dangler.
She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years James K. Shea, Jr. in 2008.
She is survived by: her six children, Joan Clark and husband John, of Shark River Hills, Dorothy Shea Cope and husband Bruce, of Allen, TX, James K. Shea III and wife Dossie, of Virginia Beach, VA, Roderic Shea and wife Sue, of Copper Hill, TN, Frederick Shea and wife Joy, of Eatontown, and Timothy Shea and wife Robin, of Oceanport; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank.
In keeping with the current state mandates regarding COVID-19, face coverings must be worn by all visitors and will not be provided by the funeral home. Guests will be directed to briefly greet the family and exit the building as soon as possible thereafter as only 25 persons are allowed in the funeral home at a time. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church of Red Bank. Burial will be private.
