Our Retro Pic of the Day is a sort of “gratitude journal” reprise from an original 2015 post in honor of the short-lived Valentine’s Day ice storm.
Chill out with thaw and the reminder that, though it is pretty cold outside, and it’s been a pretty snowy, icy February, it could be worse.
This, albeit blurry, instamatic camera shot from December of 1973 takes us back to what we referred to as The Big Ice Storm of ’73.
Limbs of trees, coated in very pretty, but dangerous, icicles were snapping all over the place. So were electrical lines. So were adults’ nerves.
As kids, however, we thought it was pretty cool. We were unfazed. We went out with our instamatic cameras and posed for pics. In reality, it was pretty treacherous.
