It was 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month. It was Veterans Day in Fair Haven on Monday. And the ceremony at Memorial Park was the continuation of a longtime tradition.
Veterans, community members, officials, volunteers and the schools’ children gathered and honored those who have served their country.
The featured speaker this year was eight-year U.S. Navy veteran (enlisted in 1953) and 46-year Fair Havenite who chaired the borough’s Community Appeal and served on the Board of Education and was and is an active communicant at Church of the Nativity.
Knollwood School eighth graders read essays they penned about what Veterans Day means to them; and, the schools band played on, as usual.
