Here’s the scoop for this year’s event in a release from Rumson:
The Two River Exhibition of Sporting Collectible Art is in its third year in Rumson and took place on Saturday, March 12, at Forrestdale School.
It is run by the New Jersey Wildfowl Carving Association, a group of carvers who meet at the Rumson First Aid Squad building each month to share ideas and to promote art of wildfowl carving.
The show is sponsored by the Monmouth County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, a not-for-profit organization that works to conserve habitat and restore wetlands in the US and Canada as well as New Jersey. The show features work by carvers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Long Island, NY and more. All net proceeds from the show go to Ducks Unlimited.
In 2015, the show raised approximately $4500 for wetlands conservation.
There is a competition for modern carvings at this event. Categories include working and decorative decoys of different New Jersey styles, decorative songbirds and birds of prey, shorebirds, miniature carvings, a category for youth carvers and more.
• Later on, from 5 to 8 p.m., The Knights of Columbus Red Bank Council #3187 in its building at the corner of Fair Haven Road and Third Street will be holding its annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner.
