Prosecutor: Area Man Arrested on Sexual Assault, Luring & Child Endangerment Charges

A Monmouth County man has been arrested and charged with attempted sexual assault, luring and endangering the welfare of a child and could face up to 15 years on prison, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced on Friday.

William McMahon, 64, of Keansburg, is charged with one count each of second-degree attempted sexual assault, second-degree luring or enticing child, third-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child.

McMahon was arrested as a result of an undercover investigation conducted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit and Monmouth County Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force that commenced in late July.

The case background … 

An undercover detective, posing as a 14-year old boy, responded to an-online posting by McMahon seeking to have a “sleep over” with the child. During the course of further on-line discussions, McMahon made clear his interest in having sex with the juvenile.

On Aug. 3, McMahon traveled from his home in Keansburg to an indoor entertainment center in Freehold Township, where he believed he would meet the 14-year-old boy to further his plan to sexually assault the minor.

McMahon was found outside the venue and subsequently arrested by officers from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and U.S. Bureau of Homeland Security.

If convicted of second-degree attempted sexual assault and luring charges, McMahon faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in New Jersey state prison, Megan’s Law, and parole supervision for life. If convicted of the third-degree endangering charge, McMahon will face a maximum sentence of five years in state prison.

McMahon remains incarcerated in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold since his arrest. He is scheduled to have a detention hearing on Aug. 9 in front of Monmouth County Superior Court Judge James J. McGann at 9 a.m.

Prosecutor: Area Surgeon Indicted for Criminal Sexual Contact with Teen

A Monmouth County grand jury returned a two-count indictment last Monday charging an Eatontown pediatric surgeon with having criminal sexual contact with a 17-year-old patient, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced. If convicted, he could face up to 11.5 years in prison.

Police Report Child Endangerment, DWI, Drug Arrests & More

The following recent criminal incidents and arrests were reported by Red Bank police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

Criminal Incidents

• A theft was reported to have occurred sometime between Oct. 17 and 18 on Shrewsbury Avenue. The victim reported that someone stole a GPS and iPhone charger from their parked vehicle.

Patrolman Tanner Shea took the report.

• An incident of criminal mischief was reported to have occurred on Oct. 19 at a Broad Street office building. The owner reported that someone damaged the stone retaining wall around the sign.

Man Arrested on Child Custody Interference, Criminal Restraint, Drug Charges; $55K Bail

The following recent arrests were made and reported by Middletown police. An arrest does not constitute a conviction.

• Talia Lopez, 24, of Easton Avenue in Somerset, was arrested on Aug. 25 by Patrolman Patrick Leonard and charged with driving while intoxicated.

She was released pending a court date.

• Paige Padla,19, of Statesir Place in Middletown, was arrested on Aug. 25 by Patrolman Raymond Sofield and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.

She was released pending a court date.

• Emanuel Papasavvas, 41, of King George Apartments in Edison, was arrested on Aug. 25 by Detective Kelly Godley and Patrolman John Walsifer and charged with interference with custody, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal restraint, unlawful possession of Xanax, unlawful possession of Suboxone and distribution of Xanax.

He was held on $55,000 bail, set by Judge John Tassini of the Monmouth County Superior Court.

Former Rumson Man Jailed on Sexual Assault, Child Endangerment Charges

A former Rumson resident is facing up to 15 years in prison on sexual assault and child endangerment charges after allegedly being caught in the act of committing the crimes against a 13-year-old boy, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.

Albert DeCresci, 86, now of Tinton Falls,was arrested by Tinton Falls police on June 5 on the respective second- and third-degree criminal charges. He was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold, where he remains in lieu of $250,000 bail with no 10 percent option for release pending trial, a release from the Prosecutor’s Office said.

With a conviction, the second-degree sexual assault charge carries with it a 10-year sentence with no parole in a NJ state prison, it added. The third-degree child endangerment charge brings with it up to a five- year sentence.

If convicted, when he is released from prison, DeCresci will be registered as a sex offender, subject to the provisions of Megan’s Law and Community Supervision for Life, the release said.

The bail and its conditions were set by Judge Honora O’Brien Kilgallen, J.S.C., who also ordered that should DeCresci make full bail, he is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
