An 18-year old male arrested in connection with the November shooting of another teen, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced.

Marc Zayas, 18, of Long Branch, was arrested on Monday, Nov. 19, following an intense manhunt. Zayas has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Long Branch Police responded to a call at 12:01 p.m. on the Thursday, Nov. 15, for shots fired in the vicinity of 63 Morris Avenue. Police arrived to find an 18-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot to the back. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is still currently in critical, but stable condition.

A joint investigation was immediately launched by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Long Branch Police Department. As a result of the investigation, Zayas has been charged with the above listed offenses.

The state has filed for detention and the hearing is currently scheduled for Nov. 28 at 9 a.m. before Monmouth County Superior Court Presiding Criminal Judge James C. McGann.
