Prosecutor: 23-Year-Old Man Charged with Vehicular Homicide in Hit & Run

A 23-year-old man accused of killing a man by running him over with his vehicle in February has been extradited back to New Jersey from Florida, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced on Friday.

Dominic Allen, 23, of Millstone, has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

The case background …

On Feb. 11 at 4:02 p.m., Neptune Township and Asbury Park police responded to a 911 call in the area of Stratford Avenue between Fisher and Myrtle avenues on a report of a person being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, police found an adult male victim lying in the roadway with severe injuries.

The victim, later identified as Kyzair Robinson, 19, of Asbury Park, was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and succumbed to his injuries on Feb. 12.

A collaborative investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Bureau and Asbury Park Police Department identified Allen as the driver of the vehicle.

The investigation revealed that the victim was communicating with Allen through the driver’s side window of the vehicle. Allen drove away with the victim clinging to and ultimately falling under the vehicle as Allen fled the scene.

Allen was later apprehended in Orlando, Florida, by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force. Allen was extradited back to New Jersey and charged on Wednesday, March 19. He is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) pending future court proceedings.

Anyone with information about this matter is urged to contact MCPO Detective Aaron Shaw at 800-533-7443 or Asbury Park Police Department Detective Terrence McGhee at 732-774-1300.
