Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge replacement construction work is planned for a bit expanded schedule this week, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday, May 3, weather permitting.

Monmouth County officials have announced scheduled construction activities (below) along with corresponding travel advisory information.

On the Shrewsbury River waterway …
- Through May 1, there will be no bridge openings.
The western half of the channel under the bridge is scheduled to be open for marine travel with horizontal clearance of 37.5 feet and vertical clearance of 15 feet at Mean High Water (MHW) and 18.5 feet at Mean Low Water (MLW). - May 1 through 8, there will be no bridge openings.
The channel is scheduled to be fully open for marine travel with horizontal clearance of 75 feet and vertical clearance of 15 feet at MHW and 18.5 feet at MLW. - May 8 through 22 there will be half channel bridge openings.
One span, either east or west, will be in the down position on an as-needed basis, and the opposite half of the channel will be open with horizontal clearance of 37.5 feet and no vertical restriction. - The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel. USCG has granted permission for the partial closures of the channel and for the temporary deviation from normal drawbridge operations. Monmouth County must comply with the dates approved by the USCG.
- Dates and times are subject to change based on weather conditions and production factors.
On the roadways and sidewalks surrounding and on the bridge …
- There will be traffic pattern changes and possible travel delays in Sea Bright at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and Rumson Road .
- All roadway and sidewalk travelers should be aware of construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road in Rumson and on the southbound side of Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.
- Temporary delays are possible on any contractor work day due to movement of construction vehicles and equipment.
- The south side (eastbound) sidewalk of the bridge is closed.

Construction activities scheduled are:
Rumson
- The forming, reinforce and pouring of the span 4 deck;
- The installation of interior finishes at the control house;
- The installation of the span lock and machining;
- The installation of receptacles, lighting, tap boxes CCTV and exterior lighting.
Sea Bright
- The installation of interior finishes at the gatekeeper house;
- The forming, reinforcement and pouring of span 6;
- The forming, reinforcement and pouring of the SE retaining wall stem;
- The installation of span 6 steel;
- The installation of metal panels for the machinery enclosure;
- The seeding and installing of plantings along Ocean Avenue’s east curb;
- The installation of the span lock and machining;
- The installation of grunion and align machinery;
- The installation of MCCs, drive cabinets and PLC cabinets.
