The Nor’easter kept Rumson Fire Department’s Oceanic Hook and Ladder Fire companies busy responding to many calls for everything from electrical fires to downed wires to flooded homes to trapped cars and downed trees.
One tree, on the property of a Rumson Road home, in fact, “even tried to take out one of Oceanic Fire Company’s engines,” a post from the fire department on social media said. The tree fell “seconds ahead of” the truck’s arrival, it added.
On the heels of the storm, Rumson Fire Department emergency responders advise residents:
“Do not walk or venture into flood waters. Downed wires in the water, submerged debris and flooded ditches and trenched all pose a hazard in flood waters. Also do not approach or attempt to move downed wires. Downed wires are always considered live and pose a threat of electrocution.”
