It’s not quite the unofficial start of summer just yet, even though the weather today says otherwise. But, the living is pretty easy when you’re down by the river in Rumson.

A dank, dark Sunday didn’t stop those running for the cause of shining a light on suicide prevention awareness in the annual Ridge Road Run 5K. And some of Rumson’s finest were among the many sprinting into the support effort — specifically, three police officers.
Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge construction work remains status quo, with a lot of road realignment work on the Rumson side and connecting of the new bridge foundation to the land in Sea Bright continuing. All construction continues this week on the usual 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule though Friday, weather permitting.

Who says you can’t go home again?
Oh, it’s been said, but clearly not by anyone who ever knew the RFH grad and famed raging skillet full of chef, author, playwright and punk rock queen of the Jews known as Rossi. Yes, that’s a mouthful of matzo ball soup with a little “L’Chaim!” on the side.
They got the callback!
The 2024 Basie Award nominations have been announced; and, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) performers, directors and crew got thunderous audition applause with 17 chances at award wins for on-stage and behind-the-scenes work in two shows.
“I have tried to unveil what Teddy Roosevelt said, “No words can unveil the mystery of the wilderness” by conducting numerous field observations, that have included many underwater via scuba, in estuaries/bays and in the Atlantic Ocean.” ~ Clyde MacKenzie Jr.
Fair Havenite Clyde MacKenzie Jr. passed away peacefully on April 29. He was 92.
