Sunday was the night Santa came to Victory Park in Rumson — Santa, Tim McLoone & the Shirleys, RFH Tower Singers, Deane-Porter third graders and more.
And, yes, a good time was had by all at the traditional annual tree lighting festivities.

It’s fall. All is quiet on the beachfront in Sea Bright.
Wind whipping, high tide crashing in, the stillness surrounding the choppy water is chilling, yet comforting.
It’s a familiar scene that envelops and soothes like hands clutching a steamy cup of coffee on a cold day.
Ahhhh. Exhale. Take a sip of scenery.

Halloween was a lot of treating and no tricking, except for trickery of disguise, in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.
The weather was hauntingly good and a good time was had by all where we got a glimpse at a howling haunt on Third Street in Fair Haven.
There were nerds, angels, monsters, princesses and even a gigantic group of emojis.

There was no tricking and a lot of treating going on Sunday when Rumson and Fair Haven both hosted annual Halloween festivities.
You’ve probably already seen the slideshow that tells the story, in photos set to music, of how it all started with a parade in Fair Haven that culminated with costume prizes, some socializing and snacks at the firehouse. Then, in Rumson kids of all ages paraded a short route from the front to the back of Forrestdale School where some costume judging and prizes ensued along with some carnival-type fun and games.

Call them Halloween house haunts of the Rumson-Fair Haven area. They’re those subtle little decorations that pop out to give passersby a bit of a “Boo!”
Perusing the area, there were a few that just seemed to summon the spirit of the season.

No, the scene just never gets old for many. It’s that scene, or one or a few of many, from one perspective or another, soaked up from the banks of Navesink River by the Fair Haven Dock.
The sun was shining brightly on Monday. Warmth enveloped — both temperature and tone.

The tide was still high at the Fair Haven Dock on Sunday, but the sun was out and beckoning people to bask in it.
As Joaquin veered away from the shores of the area, a nor’easter whipped up the tide and wind and dumped a lot of rain in the region.
The nice weather was welcomed on the banks of the Navesink River.

Fall may officially be on the calendar, but some glints of summer are still lingering — especially along the Navesink in Rumson.
The sun was shining brightly on the first day of the autumnal season, and people were basking in it.

They call it locals’ summer for a reason.
Sometimes the shore area roads are so congested with out-of-towners in the summer that its hard to even get to the beach with a buddy, even on a street where one lives.
Well, local summer has started, beaches are more sparse, buddies are back together and there’s some quiet solo solace on the shores of Sea Bright.

As summer came to a close on Monday, the sun shone bright, the temperature was still soaring and some took advantage of some final seasonal moments on the Navesink River.
There were a few sailors still sailing, motor boaters motoring, fishermen fishing and some just soaking up a little Labor Day’s end sun on the Fair Haven Dock.
