Locals have been long buzzing about when or if the new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge will ever be opened for traversing. And it will — sooner than many anticipated.
Rumson police have announced that “The New Rumson Sea-Bright Bridge (S-32) will officially open tomorrow, Thursday, July 31, in the late afternoon.” The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will start at 10 a.m. on the Rumson side.
In light of the opening, police have advised that area residents and travelers should allow for more travel time due to anticipated heavy traffic delays between noon and 6 p.m. tomorrow.
“Please be mindful of changes to traffic patterns, traffic signage and pedestrians. Pedestrian access to Sea Bright will only be available on the SOUTH SIDE of the new bridge until further notice,” police added.
“The Borough of Rumson, Rumson Police Department and Monmouth County thank you for your continued cooperation and patience as we prepare to transition from the existing bridge to the new bridge.”
