While the new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge is open and fully operational, work around the bridge continues and Monmouth County officials continue to advise motorists and pedestrians of waterborne, bridge and surrounding area travel alerts.
This week, the contractor is scheduled to continue final touch construction phase work from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, through Friday. Construction vehicles will continue to enter and exit the work areas on Rumson Road in Rumson and on Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.
Roadway and Sidewalk Information
- The sidewalk on the north side of the bridge is closed.
- Delays are possible due to construction activities.
- Motorists and pedestrians should be aware of new traffic patterns associated with use of the new bridge.
Waterway Information
- Normal bridge operations are expected (see Monmouth County Movable Bridge Schedule). From now through Labor Day, the bridge opens on the hour between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. At all other times, the bridge opens on signal.
- The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel. USCG may grant permission for partial closures of the channel and/or for temporary deviation from normal drawbridge operations. Monmouth County must comply with instructions from USCG.
