In Memoriam: Fair Havenite Frank Murphy, 86

Fair Havenite Francis J. Murphy, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 31. He was 86.

“Frank was the last surviving child of Mary Murphy Nepp who founded Murphy’s Tavern of Rumson. He worked for the Two River Water Authority until he retired. He will be incredibly missed by his family and friends.”

Born to Mary and John Murphy, Frank graduated from Holy Cross Elementary School and attended Rumson-Fair Haven High School (RFH). He served in the United States Air Force.

Frank is predeceased by: his daughter, Ann Marie Murphy Perri; his parents, Mary and John; his brother, Joseph Murphy; and his sisters, Anna Mae Porter and Catherine Itri.

Frank is survived by: “the love of his life,” Joan (Gray), having “had 59 wonderful years together” … three children, James, Diane (Andy) and Elizabeth (Nicole); and six grandchildren, Kesley, Christine, Erin, Ryan, Denver and Willow.

Family and friends may visit from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, at John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
