The R-FH Area July 4th Weekend: Fireworks, ‘The Prom’ and a Run

The boom of July 4th festivities is set to ignite some fun in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.

Starting on Thursday night, tonight, the area skies will be flush with fireworks.

If you’re on the Navesink River or near, you’ll be able to see the Hackensack Meridian Riverview Medical Center Foundation’s fireworks display coming from the Middletown side of the river. The foundation’s fundraiser, which starts at 6:30 p.m. and bears a $500 adult and $100 children charge on the actual grounds, will feature the fireworks at about 9:15 p.m. that are visible throughout the area from a distance.

But that’s not the only place you can see fireworks. And on a more community-based note, The Fair Haven Fire Department is encouraging area people to attend the Atlanta Highlands Fire Department Fireman’s Fair, which will feature fireworks at 9:45 p.m. for free. The fair will run at the municipal marina in Atlantic Highlands for five days.

And on the actual Fourth of July …

Starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Fair Haven’s Firecracker 5K run catapults with a bang at the concession stand at Fair Haven Fields. The run is booked as a community competition among friends that features four laps plus some movement on the gravel track. And there are firecracker trophies for the winners.
