Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Travel Alert

The weather forecast calls for clear skies this week, so construction work on the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge should go on as scheduled, providing the weather continues to cooperate.

This week’s work schedule has been altered due to new roadwork and girder deliveries. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, work is scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Wednesday and Friday, work will continue from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Expect alternating traffic on Rumson Road due to roadwork.
  • Girder deliveries are expected in Sea Bright Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 9 to 11.
  • Girder deliveries are expected in Rumson Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 11 to 13.
  • Police will assist flaggers with traffic control on Rumson Road and Ocean Avenue.

  • All roadway and sidewalk travelers should be aware of construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road in Rumson and on the southbound side of Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright.
  • Temporary delays are possible on any contractor work day due to movement of construction vehicles and equipment.

Boaters and those traversing the river should maintain an awareness that construction work continues in the Shrewsbury River. This means …

  • The 65-foot navigational channel width is expected to remain in effect until at least December of 2023.
