Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge Replacement: Public Forum Info

With construction of the long-anticipated new Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge looming, another public information meeting, designed to inform, offer participation and an opportunity for public input, is being held late this afternoon.

The meeting will be held at the Holy Cross Academy Gym/Auditorium in Rumson from 4 to 6 p.m., as an open house forum with with a presentation at 4:30.

Here’s what you need to know, from Monmouth County …

Several public forums on the following phases have already been completed:  Local Concept Development (LCD) Phase, the Local Preliminary Engineering (LPE) Phase and the Final Design (FD).

This afternoon’s meeting focuses on the Construction Phase of the bridge replacement project.

The meeting, dubbed an in-person Public Information Center (PIC), is hosted by Monmouth County, in cooperation with North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, New Jersey Department of Transportation, and Federal Highway Administration. The replacement of the bridge, S-32, over the Shrewsbury River will be done parallel to the existing bridge to avoid traffic tie-ups and afford minimal closures through completion of the construction phase.

The purpose of the Public Information Center meeting is to provide an open house opportunity to introduce the Construction Phase Project Team, view information on construction staging and traffic management, and present the anticipated schedule. The public is invited to comment and ask questions regarding the project.

All attendees aged 2 and over are required to wear protective masks throughout the meeting, in accordance with current CDC guidelines for health and safety concerning COVID-19.

A video of the presentation portion of the public meeting will be posted to the project website, if you are unable to attend or do not want to assume the liability or risk of exposure to any illness or infectious disease, including COVID-19, by attending. The presentation slides and display boards will also be available for viewing after the meeting, on the project website: www.rumsonseabrightbridge.com
