“Rumson Bulldogs put it in gear,” the ’78 RFH Yearbook caption for the photo said.
Well, about half a century later, the RFH Girls Track team put it in high gear and crossed the finish line into the NJSIAA state championship.

Note that there was no such thing as the Dawgs nickname back in the late 1970s. But there was a girls track team; and, as it appears, the girls were gaining steam on a meet run against Point Pleasant. Yes, back in the day of, oh, the RFH dinosaur, there was a girls track team. There was a separate boys track team as well. But there were only outdoor track team. There was no such thing as indoor track, as there is now.
But, indoor or outdoor or both, the teams have always run a competitive circuit, ending up with a history-making indoor/outdoor championship history this year.
The girls have always made a run for it, headed in the ’70s by the iconic coaches Dewey Robinson and Paul Drew. In more recent years, their coaches, equally as iconic Tim McLoone and Bob Keogh.
Always on track for success, we congratulate the girls of the RFH track of today and yesteryear.
