Longtime Rumsonite Rose Russo passed away on Oct. 31. She was 100.

Born in Italy, on the Island of Sicily, the daughter of Salvatore and Mary Pasalaqua Calamina, Rose immigrated to the United States and, eventually, Rumson.

There, she raised her family, creating a welcoming home where she
passed on the traditions of her Italian
heritage to her children.
She cherished time spent with family and friends, and time spent knitting
beautiful things.
Rose was predeceased by: her parents; her husband, John Russo, in 1985; her daughter, Nancy Rinaldi, in 2010; her son, John Russo, Jr. in 2020; and her brother, Rocco Calamina, in 2015.
She is survived, and will be deeply missed, by: her daughters, Patricia Jebran, and Mona Lisa DePetro and husband Gregory; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
All “will cherish her memory and feel the loss of her presence in their lives.”
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. , at St. James RC Church, Red Bank. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, 500 25th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Rose’s memory be made to ALS Center, Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, 97 Paterson Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08903.
